About the research trial

Disordered eating behaviour and trauma-related symptoms can have a significant impact on a person’s well-being, especially when they occur together. This project aims to interview individuals who have previously experienced or are currently experiencing symptoms of disordered eating and trauma-related symptoms, to gain a deeper understanding of how these experiences may interact. This project has two phases:

  • Phase 1 involves completing a 20-minute pre-screener. The pre-screener involves answering a series of questions regarding demographic information, details of a stressful/traumatic event/s, experiences in response to stressful/traumatic event/s, and eating behaviours. If the participant's experience fits within the aim of the study, the research team will invite them to participate in Phase 2.
  • Phase 2 involves an interview that will explore the participant's experiences with co-occurring disordered eating and trauma-related symptoms, and the factors they perceive to be key in the development of both eating- and trauma-related difficulties. The interview will take approximately 60-minutes.

Recruitment details

The flyer for the project will be sent to consumer eating disorder and/or PTSD networks, and the research team will advertise the project via social media (i.e., LinkedIn). Participants will be asked to pass on the researcher’s contact details to anyone they know who may be interested in participating in the study.
